1 detained after shot fired outside Home Depot

One person was detained after a shot was fired outside a Home Depot.

Around 5:40 p.m., Beavercreek officers were called to the Home Depot on Presidential Drive.

A shot was fired outside the store during a fight between two people, a Beavercreek police sergeant confirmed.

One person was detained.

Wayne Small lives only a few minutes away and pulled up to find the large response.

“I just came here to get some WD-40 for the house,” Small said.

As he got closer, he saw people’s reaction.

“There was a group of employees standing over here by the contractor pickup on the right side, they were standing there too, like they were in shock,” he said.

Then he saw some officers.

“All law enforcement personnel looked relieved, and it didn’t look like an incident compared to November 23 or 22,” Small said.

He was referring to the shooting on Nov. 20, 2023 at the Walmart in Beavercreek that left multiple hurt and the shooter dead.

Police have not identified the man detained or what charges he may face.
