1 person dead after Seminole County crash leaves vehicle engulfed in flames

An early morning crash killed at least one person in Seminole County.

Troopers arrived on-scene at State Road 434 and Hammock Lane in Oviedo at 5:03 a.m., according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Early evidence shows a 2022 Nissan Altima driver was traveling eastbound on S.R. 434, approaching Hammock Lane.

A driver of the second vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Compass, was traveling westbound on S.R. 434 approaching Hammock Lane.

The Nissan Altima driver lost control on the curve and drove into the direct path of the Jeep driver.

The vehicles collided head-on, and the Jeep was engulfed in flames, according to FHP.

First responders took the Jeep driver to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries.

The Nissan Altima driver died in the crash.

Authorities placed a roadblock in both directions of State Road 434 at Hammock Lane.

This crash remains under investigation.
