A 10-year-old has died and another child is in critical condition after an off-road driving crash near a rural community in Oklahoma.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the one-vehicle incident occurred at 7:13 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, about 2 miles north of Prague at Country Road 3570 and Country Road 1070, which is 60 miles east of Oklahoma City.
The 10-year-old male was operating a 2023 Yamaha UTV with two passengers, a 12-year-old female, and a 3-year-old male, OHP reports. The vehicle lost control due to excessive speed and ultimately rolled.
Upon losing control, the driver was ejected before the vehicle came to rest in a drainage ditch on the west side of the roadway. OHP reports that seatbelts were used by passengers only.
The 10-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, while the 12-year-old was found in critical condition and MediFlighted to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. The 3-year-old was uninjured, OHP reports.
