A 19-year-old man was hospitalized following a shooting in Firestone Park late Sunday, June 22, Akron police Lt. Michael Murphy said in a news release.
Officers responded to shooting reports near Ericsson Avenue and Keys Place and at about 10:10 p.m., finding the victim had already transported himself to Summa Health prior to officers arriving on scene, Murphy said. The victim reportedly sustained multiple gunshot wounds, none of which are life-threatening.
More than two dozen shell casings were recovered from the scene, Murphy reported. The incident remains under investigation.
