Two lucky Southern Californians have won over $980,000 after numbers were drawn for the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday night.
Although no winner hit all six numbers for the $1.4 billion jackpot, two tickets matched five numbers and will take home $984,594.
The winning numbers are 3, 16, 29, 61 and 69, with a Powerball of 22. The Power Play multiplier is 2X.
The two tickets in SoCal that hit five numbers were sold at:
Stater Bros. at 7200 Arlington Avenue in Riverside
Albertsons at 13045 Highway 58 in Bakersfield
The Powerball jackpot will rise to an estimated $1.7 billion for the next drawing on Saturday, Sept. 6. — the game’s third-largest prize ever. The prize is the result of 41 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.
If a player wins Saturday’s jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1.7 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $770.3 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.
The current streak has tied the game’s record for the most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The only other Powerball jackpot run to reach 42 drawings ended on April 6, 2024, with a $1.326 billion jackpot won in Oregon.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million and the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9.

So far, this Powerball run alone has generated more than $114 million for California public education.”
Powerball tickets are $2 per play and drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:59 p.m. The drawing is also live-streamed on Powerball.com.
