2-year-old boy dies after being found in Clinton River

A two-year-old boy who was reported missing died after being found in the Clinton River by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, June 16.

Police were dispatched to a home on Manse Street in Harrison Township, where the toddler was last seen, after receiving a call from his family around 11 a.m., MCSO Public Information Officer Jennifer Putney said.

Police found the todder around 11:29 a.m. and transported the him to the hospital. The boy, who MCSO identified as Maxwell Anderson, was later pronounced dead.

“The thoughts and prayers of the MCSO go out to the family and friends of the young child,” the release said.

An investigation by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
