20 Florida Joann fabrics stores closed in April. Did yours? Here’s the list

Yesterday marked the end of 112 Joann Fabrics locations around the country, including nine stores in Florida.

The crafts retail chain began its going-out-of-business sales after the company filed for bankruptcy in January 2025 and all of the chain’s assets were won by retail liquidator GA Group and Joann’s term lenders in a February 2025 auction.

Eleven other Florida locations closed the previous week, with the remaining stores closing by the end of May, the company announced. Did your local store close on Monday, April 28?

Why is Joann Fabrics closing stores?

Officials have highlighted the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain issues and inflation as reasons for the retailer’s struggle over the last five years.

The retailer filed for bankruptcy in March 2024 after securing around $132 million in new financing to put towards its $1 billion debt. The company opted to go private again after becoming public in 2021.

However, a rash of store closures followed before the company again filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January to “facilitate a sale process to maximize the value of its business.”
