St. Joseph County Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in an incident where at least 20 shots were fired early Saturday in a residential area along Grape Road.
No one was shot. Police were called at about 1 a.m. Saturday to a rental home in the 52000 block of Grape. They found an estimated crowd of 50 people there, with several juveniles fleeing while others stayed.
Police provided a video where, they say, you can see at least two shooters. They are seeking help to identify the person in a still photo they also provided, plus any other information about the incident.
A suspect is seen in this still from a video of a shooting on Grape Road in Granger.
If you have information that would help, call police detective bureau at 574-235-9569, call Michiana Crimestoppers or leave a tip at the St. Joseph County Police website.
Police say this is part of a trend where homes are booked for a single night and used to host large gatherings and end up leading to criminal activity.
Police advise rental property owners to:
■ Install exterior security cameras to monitor activity.
■ Vet renters thoroughly before confirming bookings.
■ Be cautious of one-night rentals.
■ Notify nearby neighbors so they can help watch the property.
■ Report any suspicious large gatherings to law enforcement.
