By India Today Web Desk: The build-up to the FIFA World Cup 2022 quarter-final between France and England have been feisty to say the least. Kyle Walker’s comments on Kylian Mbappe have sparked reaction from France mid-fielder Youssouf Fofana, who said that England are more than welcome to try and stop Mbappe of scoring. The player further said that if England are able to stop Mbappe, they should tell their secret to the Ligue 1 teams, who are still searching for the answer to the question – how to stop Kylian Mbappe.

France captain Hugo Lloris on the other hand has chosen the high road and has praised England for the team that they have in the tournament. He has lauded the opposition captain and his Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Kane stating that he is a real example for the youngsters.

“I only have positive things to say about Harry. He’s a very important player for the team, for the club (Tottenham) and indeed for the England team as well. He’s a real leader, he’s a role model for his teammates and he’s a top player. He’s been decisive for his club and very often he makes the difference,” Lloris said in the press conference.

“We have to make sure we will be ready to challenge England on Saturday because it’s going to be a big battle. There is everything for a big game and now it’s up to the players to perform,” he further added.

Asked about comparing both sides, Lloris said that he was proud of the England side and the way they were maturing.

“To be honest with you, if we compare both sides, there were more English players at the World Cup in Russia than French players. If you look at the English squad, they were semi-finalists at the World Cup, there were runners-up at the last Euro and there is a real progression, and I believe this team is getting mature and ready to compete for trophies. They were a bit unlucky at the last Euro, they came very close.” Lloris concluded.
