By Gopi Maniar Ghanghar : A meeting of the Gujarat BJP Legislature Party unanimously elected Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel as the leader of the Legislature Party and staked claim on Friday to form the government to the Governor through BJP President CR Patil.

The swearing-in ceremony of Bhupendra Patel as the chief minister will be held on December 12.

As Bhupendra Patel gears up to form the government, there has been speculation about who will be a part of his cabinet. It is believed that 20 to 22 BJP MLAs can get a place in his cabinet, in which nine can be cabinet ministers while the rest can be state ministers.

Some prominent names have come up as those likely to join Bhupendra Patel’s cabinet.

Rushikesh Patel was the health minister in the Bhupendra Patel government for one year. His leadership in the Patidar community might get him a place in Bhupendra Patel’s cabinet.

Kunvarji Bavaliya is known as a leader of the Koli society. A protest erupted in Rajkot when Bavaliya was excluded from the cabinet in 2021.

Vijay Rupani served as the chief minister of the state for two terms.

Jayesh Radadiya served as a cabinet minister and is the son of Vithal Radadiya, who is a former Lok Sabha minister. He is also a big name in the co-operative sector in Saurashtra.

Ganpat Vasava is a tribal leader and worked as a cabinet minister under the Anandiben Patel government.

Ramanlal Vora was a minister in the Modi government, but lost the 2017 election. This time he contested elections from the Idar seat.

Raghavji Patel worked as an agriculture minister in the Bhupendra Patel government and Kanu Desai worked as the finance minister.

Harsh Sanghvi served as the Home Minister in the Bhupendra Patel government. He has been in the limelight for his work in the last one year.

Kirit Singh Rana worked as a cabinet minister in the Bhupendra Patel government.

At the same time, Payal Kukrani or Manisha Vakil could get a place in the cabinet as women ministers.

Alpesh Thakor, who won the election for the first time from BJP might also get a place in the cabinet. On the other hand, sources said there is little chance of Hardik Patel becoming a minister.

Tribal leaders like Jitu Chowdhary, Naresh Patel, PC Baranda might also get a place in the cabinet.
