By India Today Web Desk: Ishan Kishan has opened up on how Virat Kohli guided him during his double hundred against Bangladesh in the third ODI on Saturday as the star batter kept gesturing to him to take singles.

Kishan played a gem of an innings as he scored 210 runs in Chattogram and put the Bangladeshi bowlers to the sword. The 24-year-old broke all sorts of records as he slammed the fastest ODI double hundred on Saturday.

Kohli was also not left behind as he ended his century drought in ODIs and went past Ricky Ponting for most international hundreds. Kishan and the former India captain came together when the team was in a bit of trouble as they lost Shikhar Dhawan early.

They put on a 290-run stand for the second wicket to ensure the win for India and end the series on a high.

Speaking to Shubman Gill on BCCI’s official website, Kishan revealed about his chat with Kohli and how he guided him during his innings. The 24-year-old said he told the star batter to keep advising him to take singles and rotate the strike as he was feeling like he would play a big shot and throw it away.

Kohli accepted Kishan’s request and kept egging him to rotate the strike by showing him gestures from the non-striker’s end.

“I told him initially that please keep telling me to take singles. Otherwise, I will throw it away going forward. Because I feel like playing a big shot from inside me. So please keep guiding me. He said OK and I will keep on telling you. So from the non-striker’s end he kept showing the gesture of a single,” said Kishan.

Kohli took to Instagram to talk about the win and also congratulated Kishan for his fine knock.

“Good win. Super knock by Ishan. Onto the tests,” said Kohli.

India will now play Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, starting on 14th December.
