By Tiasa Bhowal: “Delhi Airport is becoming one of the world’s most disorganised and frustrating airports for international travel.”

“Coming to Delhi airport is no less than a self-inflicted agony and harassment.”

“Overcrowded T3 Delhi !! Please be here at least 3 hours before departure during peak hours!”

“I ended up paying @airindiain well over 25k INR for one side DEL-BLR for a flight I had originally booked for around 13k INR because of the chaos at Delhi Airport at T3.”

Well, what you just read above are tweets from angry fliers who have had to undergo some serious “harassment” at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3. The airport is witnessing an unprecedented increase in the number of passengers owing to the upcoming holiday season. The authorities are having a hard time keeping up with the influx of passengers at the airport. Passengers at the airport claimed utter mismanagement and tagged Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in their angry tweets.

TV anchor and author Rocky Singh took to Twitter to share a selfie clicked in the backdrop of the overcrowded Terminal 3. “Good morning – 5:30 am Delhi T3 and welcome to HELL … 35 minutes to get into the airport – 25 minutes at a comparatively empty Vistara and now … the mother of all security lines … SECURITY !!! Abandon hope all ye who enter here @JM_Scindia @ShereenBhan,” Singh wrote.

Passengers not only complained about the long unending queues at the airport, but some of them also shared how they were on the verge of missing their flights because of the unimaginable crowd. “God save the passengers travelling from T3 at Delhi airport. Even After reaching 3 hrs before the departure, you cannot be guaranteed that u will catch your flight. It’s like playing LUCK BY CHANCE…and the lucky winner….gets to board the flight,” a Twitter user wrote.

“It is a mad rush at T3 Delhi Airport security check. So much time-consuming. Many may miss flights. Reach at least 3-4 hrs before your flight. For short routes better use roads instead of air. It will be tension free and will take almost the same time from your home to your destination,” another user wrote.

Against the backdrop of these complaints about passenger overcrowding and congestion at the country’s major airports, Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to plan a surprise inspection of the Delhi airport. As per sources, Scindia may plan a sudden check at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3.
