The All About That Bass artist, who is expecting her second child with husband Daryl Sabara – the couple are parents to two-year-old son Riley – clarified she ‘did not mean’ to aim the remark at ‘all teachers.’
Trainor added, ‘I love teachers, I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job and they are the most underpaid.
‘They are the most unappreciated when they literally raise all of us. I don’t want to make excuses, I just want to [say,] I am so sorry.’
The episode of the podcast Wednesday was focused on parenting, as Paytas and her spouse Moses Hacmon welcomed daughter Malibu last September.
Trainor said that she and her husband were planning on homeschooling their children when the time comes, as they are alarmed by what they see on social media in reaction to the ongoing epidemic of school shootings in America.
She said, ‘Everyone on TikTok is like, “This is what it’s like having kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.” I was like, “F*** all that” … f*** teachers, dude.’
The Grammy-winning artist said that she was chalking the chain of events up to a learning experience.
‘I am so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad and I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence and I will be more careful,’ she said.
