NEW DELHI: Telangana CM and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) boss K Chandrashekar Rao inaugurated his party’s new office here on Thursday, moving ahead with his plan to grow beyond the state boundaries and venture into national politics. Rao had rechristened his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to BRS to give it a pan-India identity.
Rao will now wade into Maharashtra politics in a big way, with plans to open a BRS office in every district of the state. Maharashtra is scheduled to have assembly polls in 2024. BRS is looking at a two-month deadline to complete all its district level offices in Maharashtra, as it has been getting good response in the state, party insiders said. With plans to enter other neighbouring states in future, the four-storeyed party office in Vasant Vihar is expected to become the hub of BRS’s expansion activities across the country, party leaders said.
According to party sources, BRS stayed away from the Karnataka polls as there was little time to prepare. However, with the state having a large Telugu speaking population, it plans to enlarge its footprint in Karnataka in the days to come.
“It is KCR‘s statesmanship and perseverance for formation and development of Telangana that today, BRS with nine MPs in Lok Sabha, seven MPs in Rajya Sabha and 105 MLAs in Telangana has grown into a national powerhouse. The opening of our party’s Delhi office is a proud moment for every pink (party colour) soldier,” a party leader said.
The Delhi office, built according to ‘vastu shastra’, was inaugurated amid chanting of Vedic hymns. Telangana assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, among others were present.
