A 21-year-old man was shot and critically wounded outside of a neighborhood pool in the Bronx, police said Sunday.

Shots rang out around 3:40 p.m. near Fulton Ave. and E. 173rd St. in Morrisania, striking the victim in the neck, cops said. EMS transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The shooting took place just before the nearby Crotona Park Pool opened for its afternoon session.

There was no immediate arrest as police continue to investigate.

At the end of May, 21-year-old Irvin Provitt died after taking a gunshot to the head in Crotona Park.

A neighborhood resident who spoke to the Daily News after Provitt’s death said the playground where the shooting happened is a trouble spot.

“It’s always hot,” said Jennifer Ramos, 34. “There’s always a lot of gang activity. Especially in the summer time.”
