2nd Chance Ministries concert set for next Saturday [Religion Digest]

• The Cultural Series Team of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood, is presenting a Southern Gospel concert by 2nd Chance Ministries next Saturday at 6 p.m. The trio is from South Carolina and has many years of experience in various Gospel groups. They strive to create a sound that crosses all barriers and reaches all styles of interest while sticking to the Gospel message. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door and $5 for children ages 5-12. For tickets, call Liz at 717-669-1785 or Sharon at 610-657-8727. • Wyomissing Church of the Brethren, 2200 State Hill Road, Wyomissing, will hold a Fall Fest next Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Kauffman’s BBQ chicken will be available, cost is $13 for half a chicken, potato, roll and 1/2 cup of applesauce. Tickets are available at 610-374-8451. Homemade goodies and Way Har ice cream also will be available to purchase. Eat in or take out. The Buccaneers Alumni Band will play at 1 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. There will be crafts, pumpkin painting and a lollipop tree for kids. In case of rain, the festival will be held inside the church.

• The six congregations of the Pretzel City Lutheran Parish (Nativity, 1501 N. 13th St., Reading; St. Paul, 1559 Perkiomen Ave., Reading; Hope, 601 N. Front St., Reading; Christ, 1301 Luzerne St., Reading; Bethany, 336 Franklin St., West Reading; and Zion-Spies, 310 Spies Church Road, Alsace Township) will hold an indoor/outdoor potluck picnic on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church. A brief hymn sing with a faith message will be held at 1:30. The message will be given by the Rev. Rashion Santiago, who grew up in the Glenside neighborhood.

• United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., has scheduled the following events: today, the Men’s Fellowship Group will meet at Heidelberg Family Restaurant, 910 W. Penn Ave., Robesonia, at 8:30 a.m. No reservation needed; Monday, the 21st Century Christian Women’s Group will meet 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Zoom Bible Study starts, 9 a.m. Email mestme@aol.com for the link.

• The Rev. Paul Metzloff will lead a Social Forum discussing the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s statement on the death penalty as well as end of life decisions on Sunday at 11:40 a.m. in the parish hall.

• Salem Lutheran Church, 8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel, will welcome back the Rev. Barry Spatz as he leads the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. There will be a social time in the church’s community room after the service.

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship at 9:30 a.m. in the Memorial Hall. A special piano solo by Muzio Clementi called “Sonatina in C Major” will be performed by Daniel Beal. Harvest Home will be celebrated with the collection of food of all kinds to be donated the Bethany Children’s Home in Heidelberg Township. Fellowship will follow the service.

• Kids Kits for Church World Service will be blessed during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County. Coffee and Conversation will be held at 8:30 and 10 in the Welcome Center. Brown bag Bible study will be held on Wednesday at noon.

In order to have an event listed in the religion digest, it must be something that is not just a regular worship service.
