A 4-year-old boy reported missing around 8:30 a.m. May 9 was found dead in a retention pond behind a Rockledge-area apartment complex, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
The child was reportedly found drowned, less than an hour later, in the water behind Mission Bay Apartments, located off Murrell Road.

WESH News reported that in a news conference, BCSO reported that the mother called 911 after realizing her child had gotten out after unlocking the door,
Just before noon, deputies from BCSO were still on the scene where the child was pulled from the water.
