A 5-foot-long python slithered into an apartment bathroom in southern New Hampshire this week, according to police.
On July 28, police officers were called to 83 East Broadway in Derry to help capture the found snake, the department said in a Facebook post.
“The snake was docile and clearly a pet,” Derry Police Captain Vern Thomas said in an email.
And it turns out the non-venomous reptile hadn’t traveled too far.
A pet python slithered its way from one Derry, N.H. apartment to another, police said.
Snake belonged to another resident
Police determined the python belonged to another tenant in the building.
The scaly pet escaped its habitat, slithered out of its owner’s apartment, and snuck into a neighbor’s bathroom, Thomas said.
“We rounded it up and located the proper owner a short time later,” he said.
It was not immediately clear how the snake entered the neighbor’s apartment.
Similar situations have been reported in South Carolina and Florida, and some involve snakes slithering through pipes to make their entrances.
