74-year-old man dies in crash involving motorized scooter, car in Melbourne

Melbourne police are investigating an afternoon crash between a passenger vehicle and a motorized scooter which left a 74-year-old man dead.Officers were called to the intersection of Sarno Road and Apollo Boulevard at 1:30 p.m., where they found Neil Goodwin of Melbourne on the ground with significant injuries. Responding medical personnel transported Goodwin to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Police said Goodwin was traveling north along Apollo Boulevard on the scooter when he attempted to make a left turn onto Sarno Road. As he made the turn, the scooter was struck by a Toyota driven by Pamela Court, 88, of Indian Harbour Beach, who was making a right turn onto Sarno.

Officers at the scene attempted to administer lifesaving aid to Goodwin.

No further details were immediately available on the incident.
