While the US is facing unprecedented attacks on the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, tens of thousands of people still hit the streets of Washington D.C. to celebrate Pride Month and make a collective statement that we are here and we’re not going anywhere.

The DC WorldPride parade took over the nation’s capital on June 7, with 500 members of the Gay Men’s Chorus carrying a giant rainbow flag the size of three football fields, lesbian pop star Reneé Rapp riding in the parade on the back of a pickup truck, and trans Orange is the New Black actress Laverne Cox waving from a convertible. There were DJs, brass bands, elaborate floats, and members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence blowing kiss are attendees, AP News reports.

Every pride in the Capitol is exciting, but this year everything was bigger and better for WorldPride. The event brought together the community and showed the country that the LGBTQ+ community is not going to stop fighting or stop celebrating.
