The goal of commercial vehicle inspections is to protect all who travel through Bern Township and the greater Berks County area by ensuring that commercial vehicles adhere to safety standards, officials said.

According to Bern police:

Inspections were conducted on all four ramps of the interchange.

Personnel flagged 48 trucks for full commercial vehicle inspections and conducted 17 driver credential checks. They documented 98 violations.

In addition to the nine vehicles pulled out of service, one overweight truck was identified that needed to be addressed before moving on.
