GOSHEN — A man is accused of cutting a victim’s arm with a machete during a home invasion in south Goshen.

Christopher Edwards, 48, is charged with burglary with a deadly weapon after his arrest last week. His charges also include battery with a deadly weapon, intimidation and possession of methamphetamines as Level 5 felonies, and misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

He was booked without bond in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility.

According to court documents:

A woman called 911 on July 18 at around 5:17 a.m. to report that Edwards had broken into her home and was battering her boyfriend. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office arrived and found Edwards outside the residence.

Police arrested Edwards and allegedly found a baggie of suspected meth in his possession.

The battery victim told police that he found Edwards in his garage while investigating a noise. Edwards allegedly told him that he had been “hanging out with several cops” and was given permission to murder the victim and remove him from the residence.

Edwards also said he was “looking forward to it,” according to investigators.

The victim believed Edwards may have been holding a weapon behind his back so he shut the garage door, but Edwards allegedly kicked it open. He brought a large machete out from behind his back and began slashing wildly at the victim, who was struck in the arm when he tried to shield himself, according to police.
