Restock Ave, a streetwear and sneaker shop in Phoenix, was the target of a smash-and-grab burglary early on July 24.
Chris Sotelo, the store’s owner, said that he was getting ready for bed when he saw the store alarm go off.
Sotelo said he remembered opening the camera footage and seeing that the gates were broken, and it took him a while to realize that a car was inside the store.
Officers responded to the area of 99th Avenue and Camelback Road after hearing reports of an alarm going off at a store, police said.
Officers arrived and found that a vehicle had collided with the business, allowing access to the merchandise inside the store, according to police.
The suspects left the scene before police arrived, and the vehicle used to hit the store was reported stolen before the burglary, police said.
“It’s definitely going to set us back a little bit, especially right now when we are getting ready for back-to-school season,” Sotelo said.
“It’s a good season for us, so we’re definitely going to miss out on that since it will probably take a couple … hopefully not more than two or three months to get back open,” Sotelo said.
Sotelo said that while his in-person store was closed for the time being, his online store was still up and running.
Sotelo said that he would be posting updates on the status of his in-person store on Restock Ave’s social media accounts.
