Jul. 26—A Wasilla teen died and two other people were injured in a head-on crash Friday afternoon on the Parks Highway in the Willow area, Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers received word of the crash near Mile 81 of the highway around 1 p.m. Friday, the agency said in an online update.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a Kia Rio driven by 19-year-old Connal M. Dinsmore and heading south “crossed the center line and struck a Honda Civic,” troopers said. Dinsmore died at the scene while two people in the Honda sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, according to troopers.
Dinsmore’s next of kin were notified of his death and an autopsy will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner Office, troopers said.
The crash investigation prompted the temporary closure of the highway.
