Two killed in three-vehicle crash southwest of Hurdsfield, ND

Jul. 26—HURDSFIELD, N.D. — Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday, July 25, about 10 miles southwest of Hurdsfield, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

A 36-year-old Hensler, North Dakota, man was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 southbound in the northbound lane of North Dakota Highway 3 at about 8 p.m. Friday when the vehicle sideswiped a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 47-year-old Harvey, North Dakota, man, at mile marker 126 the patrol said. The patrol said the impact caused the Pontiac to become airborne where it collided with a northbound 2010 Dodge Challenger driven by a 61-year-old Eagle Butte, South Dakota, man.

The Harvey man, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

The drivers of the Pontiac G6 and Dodge Challenger were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said. Both drivers were not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The passenger of the Dodge Challenger, a 62-year-old man from Eagle Butte, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ground and air ambulance to be treated for his injuries, the patrol said.

The patrol is investigating the crash.
