One of several suspects in a July 25 gunfight in Montgomery was arrested July 26, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
MCSO responded to a report of gunfight at the 6800 block of Atlanta Highway at 8:30 p.m. on July 25. Multiple suspects fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Overnight, MCSO executed multiple search warrants on different locations, processed evidence, and identified suspects. According to Asst. Chief Wesley Richerson, multiple vehicles and firearms, including an assault rifle, used in the crime were recovered overnight.
Early in the morning of July 26, deputies located and arrested one of the suspects, who was identified as 19-year-old King Walker.
Walker has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied building. He is being held under a $90,000 bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
“We want these criminals to know that if they commit a violent crime and jeopardize the safety of our community, the men and women of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will not sleep until they are identified, located, and arrested,” Richerson said in a release.
The investigation is ongoing, and MCSO has not released the names of other shooting suspects. However, MCSO said more arrests are likely in the near future.
“We are committed to ensuring violent offenders are held accountable for their actions,” Richerson said.
