A federal judge has sentenced a 36-year-old Arlington man to more than 33 years in prison for producing child pornography and illegally possessing a machine gun.
Carlos Isaac Barrientos received a 405-month sentence (33.75 years) on July 24 from U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson for the Northern District of Texas.
The Bedford Police Department, just northeast of Fort Worth, began investigating a truck theft from a business in late September 2024, according to the release. Several days later, the Arlington Police Department found the vehicle and returned it.
But investigators found “multiple bags” with cell phones and “illegal firearms” – which belonged to Barrientos – in the truck. ATF agents reviewed them, and found “images and videos of child pornography on the devices.”
Barrientos was arrested and charged, and he pleaded guilty to charges of child porn production and machine gun possession on April 16, according to the release.
Arlington and Bedford police departments, the ATF, and DHS investigated the case. According to federal inmate records, he was detained at FMC Fort Worth.
