A 60-year-old Alabama-based chicken franchise will be setting up shop in Wetumpka soon.
Guthrie’s — which began in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965 — will be coming soon to the new River Town Center shopping center in Wetumpka, located along Coosa River Parkway on Alabama 14.
Construction is set to start in the fall of 2025, with the project’s completion projected for early 2026.
“We are thrilled to welcome Guthrie’s to Wetumpka,” said Mayor Jerry Willis. “Our City Council has continued to work closely with our Economic Development Department to broker deals so that River Town Center continues to grow as a destination for retail, dining and family-friendly experiences. Guthrie’s is a perfect fit and another exciting addition for our community.”

The restaurant — which serves fried chicken fingers, french fries, toast and chicken sandwiches all with their signature sauce — will have outdoor seating available in addition to its usual amenities.
Other recently announced new tenants to the River Town Center include The GOAT Bar and Grill, Tractor Supply Co. and NexGen Fun Park, a children’s indoor entertainment facility.
