A Naples woman accused of stealing more than $700 worth of gasoline has been granted probation.
Yuliet Sanchez Centella, 31, was arrested in 2023 after Collier County authorities discovered that she paid $15 for fuel, but pumped approximately 216 gallons of diesel fuel.
After pleading no contest and being found guilty on all five felony charges — physically tampering with fuel dispenser, modifying/possessing a modified fuel tank, unlawful conveyance of fuel using a motor vehicle, criminal mischief for damaging property worth $1,000 or more and grand theft of more than $750 — Centella was sentenced to two years of community control, followed by two years of probation for each charge, according to court records.
She was also banned from all Racetrac locations in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties and ordered by the court to pay $100 a month toward a total of $6,930.17 in restitution.
At her sentencing in December, the court granted Centella the ability to convert her community control to regular probation upon restitution being paid in full.
Court records indicate that as of June, Centella has paid off restitution. On Monday, July 28, the Collier County Circuit Court granted Centella probation.
Tracing the crime that fueled the case
A Racetrac corporate representative monitoring the gas pumps at a Racetrac on Collier Boulevard in Naples was alerted that pump No. 7 had been manipulated and that in one week, there were five thefts with the same vehicles involved at that pump, according to an arrest report.

On the day that Centella was arrested, a golden Dodge Ram pickup truck pulled up to the pump at 7:24 a.m. and a male pumped gas for 27 minutes, totaling 216 gallons.
About 10 minutes later, Centella arrived in a black Mercedes SUV, pulled up behind the pickup, exited her vehicle and drove away in the truck with the fuel, the report says.
Upon authorities locating Centella, she provided deputies with her debit card and said she paid $15 for the fuel. She told officials that she left to get a Red Bull while the pump continued pumping fuel.
The man who was seen pumping fuel into the pickup fled the scene in the SUV.
Photos of pump seven show the diesel system had been manipulated and was missing screws, according to the report.
