Investigation is continuing into whether charges will be filed in connection with a two-vehicle crash that occurred last week on Lantana Road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol released a preliminary report Monday morning.
The deceased is identified as Dennis W. Woodring, 60, a corporal with the Tennessee Department of Corrections and Cumberland County resident.
Injured in the crash was Colt W. Seiber, 18, also of Cumberland County.
According to the THP report, Seiber was traveling south — or outbound from Crossville — on Lantana Road in the area of Laurel Creek, driving a 2007 GMC Sierra.
For unknown reasons, the vehicle left Lantana Road, the THP report said. On the right side, the driver over-corrected, causing the GMC to travel across the south lane into the north lane.
That resulted in a head-on collision with Woodring’s 2017 Toyota Rav 4, according to the report. Impact caused both vehicles to rotate counter-clockwise, with both coming to rest blocking both lanes of travel.
After impact, at least one of the vehicles burst into flames.
Lantana Road was closed for a period of time for emergency personnel and later for THP’s investigative unit to process the scene.
No charges have been filed as of Monday, but the report said charges could be pending upon completion of the investigation.
