“Our investigation is already underway,” the firm’s founder, John Morgan and attorney David Stechow said in a statement. “We are working to determine how this terrifying attack could have happened and to demand accountability for any potential negligence or lapses in security that might have contributed to this incident.”

The statement said that the man went to the store that evening with his wife and children. In attempting to shield them, he was stabbed repeatedly. The man has undergone several surgeries and is now recovering at home, the law firm said.

“Our client was left severely injured, and we will pursue all avenues of justice for him and his family,” the statement said.

The stabbing suspect, Bradford James Gille, 42, is facing terrorism and assault with intent to murder charges. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison. He has pleaded not guilty and remains jailed on a $1 million bond.

Gille has a history of mental health struggles and criminal activity.

Bystanders, including a man with a license to carry a pistol, are credited with subduing the suspect until police arrived.
