A Bucks County inmate who failed to report back to the jail after finishing her work shift has been charged with escape.
Kristy Lynn Lowmiller, 49, of Philadelphia, was sentenced in February to serve 8 to 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Center for violating her probation in a series of 2010 theft-related convictions, according to a probable cause affidavit.
She was later approved for the correctional department’s work release program, which allows inmates to take jobs with approved employers in the community.

On Aug. 1 Lowmiller left the Doylestown Township correctional center for her job at a nearby bar and restaurant on North Main Street near the courthouse where she has worked since June.
She was last seen leaving the jail’s reception area shortly before 9 a.m. walking toward a bus stop on Route 611, the affidavit said.
When Lowmiller failed to return to the jail by 5:30 p.m. that day, a jail administrator contacted the restaurant manager, who reported that Lowmiller collected her paycheck and left the business around 5 p.m.
As of Aug. 5, Lowmiller had not returned to the jail and an arrest warrant was filed charging her with escape, which is a felony.
