Riverbend Academy and Riverbend Community Church are being investigated for reports of abuse and inappropriate behavior, Ormond Beach police said on Tuesday Aug. 26.
The academy and church are located at 2080 W. Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach.
According to police spokeswoman Pauline Dulang, Ormond Beach police detectives want to talk with anyone who may have information on the abuse allegations or who may have been a victim.
Allegations under review date back as the early 2000s, but detectives are working to determine if there are any current victims, Dulang said.
Dulang declined to give more details of the abuse citing the investigation as active.
“We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to supporting potential victims and protecting this community, all while conducting a thorough and impartial investigation,” Chief Jesse Godfrey said in a news release.
All reports made to the police department will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality, Dulang said.
