Aug. 27—BRIDGEWATER, S.D. — All three defendants in a McCook County drug case that began with a traffic stop in November 2024 have now been sentenced.
Tavern Meinberg, 41, was sentenced Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, after pleading guilty in July to possession of 1 to 10 pounds of marijuana, a Class 4 felony. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail without work release, ordered to serve four years of probation, and fined $1,500. As part of a plea agreement, charges related to methamphetamine, THC wax, and drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
The other two defendants, Alesa Meinberg, 41, and her stepson Kamdon Sandhurst, 23, were sentenced in mid-July.
Alesa Meinberg pleaded guilty to possession of THC wax. She received 10 days in jail, two years of probation, and a $750 fine. A five-year prison term was suspended. In her case, charges that were dismissed included possession of one to ten pounds of marijuana (Class 4 felony), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (Class 6 felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class 2 misdemeanor).
Kamdon Sandhurst also pleaded guilty to possession of THC wax, receiving the same sentence: 10 days in jail, two years of probation, and a $750 fine. Dismissed charges in his case included possession of one to ten pounds of marijuana (Class 4 felony), possession with intent to distribute less than one-half ounce of marijuana to a minor (Class 6 felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class 2 misdemeanor).
The case stemmed from a traffic stop in November 2024, which led investigators to a rural residence near Bridgewater. There, authorities uncovered drugs, weapons, and evidence of distribution activity.
