PITTSBORO — Four Chatham County Sheriff’s Office detention officers have completed the North Carolina Detention Officer Certification Course at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro, achieving a 100% pass rate on the state exam.
The graduates are Eamon Breen, Kennedy Farrar, Brandon Harper, and Darrell McCrimmon.
The full graduating class consisted of 11 officers from sheriff’s offices in Chatham, Orange, Lee, and Harnett counties. The deputies successfully completed a five-and-a-half-week course which included 23 instructional blocks covering topics including legal procedures, ethics, medical care, communication, subject control techniques, and stress management. In addition to 649 exam questions completed in class, graduates faced 200 questions on the state certification exam, which the entire class passed this morning with a 100% success rate.
“Congratulations to all of you,” Capt. Jessica Norton, who oversees operations at the Chatham County Detention Center, said. “You’ve earned this achievement.”
CCSO’s Eamon Breen earned top honors among the group, achieving the highest overall average on the state exam for this class.
Graduates received their certificates during a ceremony at CCCC recognizing their accomplishments and the completion of a program designed to prepare them for the challenges of a detention environment.
