Looking for a new job? The hunt for employment is stressful, especially when trying to narrow down what workplaces check all — or most — of your boxes.

So, which companies are among the best to work for in Wisconsin?

Forbes surveyed more than 160,000 employees from companies across the U.S. with at least 500 employees for its “America’s Best Employers by State” report, in partnership with Statista.

Participants were asked how likely they would recommend their employer and rank it using a series of criteria, including workplace culture and wages. Previous employers within the last two years and other organizations that respondents had connections at were also included into the survey’s scoring system.

The system also took into account survey data from the past three years, though the most recent data has “greater weight” for the 2025 rankings, the Aug. 21 report noted.

Based on these metrics, here are the best companies to work for in Wisconsin and Milwaukee, according to Forbes:

What is the best employer in Wisconsin?

Forbes said the best company to work for in Wisconsin is Kimberly-Clark, an Irving, Texas-based personal care product company. Its brands include Huggies, Kleenex, Poise and more.

The best employer based in Wisconsin is promotional products supplier 4imprint, which is headquartered in Oshkosh. It ranked No. 4 overall in Forbes’ list of employers in the Badger State.

Here’s what Forbes ranked as the 10 best employers in Wisconsin on the list of 75 companies, including employers not based in the state:

  2. Aldi (headquartered in Batavia, Illinois)

  3. Bank of America (headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina)

  4. 4imprint (headquartered in Oshkosh, Wisconsin)

  5. Kwik Trip/Kwik Star (headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin)

  6. Green Bay Packaging (headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin)

  7. Culver Franchising System (headquartered in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin)

  8. Bergstrom Automotive Group (headquartered in Neenah, Wisconsin)

Ten of the 75 companies that made Forbes’ list were headquartered in Milwaukee:

  1. Harley-Davidson (ranked No. 9 overall)

  2. Advocate Health (rank No. 10)

  3. Children’s Wisconsin (rank No. 15)

  4. Medical College of Wisconsin (rank No. 18)

  5. Milwaukee Area Technical College (rank No. 27)

  6. Northwestern Mutual (rank No. 34)

  7. Rockwell Automation (rank No. 59)

  8. City of Milwaukee (rank No. 66)

  9. Milwaukee County (rank No. 75)

Several other Milwaukee-based companies made the list for best employers in other states. Johnson Controls was named the 71st best employer in Florida; Marquis Companies was ranked the 26th best employer in Oregon; and Advocate Health also ranked in Georgia, Illinois and North Carolina.
