Here’s where to find them in Memphis

Must read

As the end of summer approaches, the beginning of spooky season creeps in, and in Memphis, the spirit of Halloween is already in the swing of things.

Many retailers have begun preparing for the Halloween season, including the season’s retail giant, Spirit Halloween.

“[O]ur takeover begins soon,” posted Sprit Halloween to X on July 30. With the closure of multiple stores in 2025, shoppers can expect to find costumes, animatronics and decor popping up in former retail spaces such as Joann Fabrics, Big Lots and Forever 21 locations.

Not all stores open at the same time, though, so while most in the Memphis area are operating, opening day has yet to come for others.

Where are Spirit Halloween stores open in the Memphis area?

Spirit Halloween will be opening several stores throughout the Mid-South and the Memphis area. To find a store near you, visit stores.spirithalloween.com.

  • 5056 Park Avenue, Memphis (Former Tuesday morning)

  • 1245 North Germantown Parkway Suite 102, Memphis (Next to Incredible Pizza)

  • 10263 East Shelby Drive, Collierville (Former Dress Barn)

  • 6535 Towne Center Crossing, Southaven (Former Joann Fabric)

All locations except the one in Collierville opened in August. Collierville’s location is listed as opening in September.

Spirit Halloween takes over bankrupt storefronts

USA TODAY reported that hundreds of upcoming Spirit Halloween stores will be opening in spaces previously occupied by bankrupt retailers, including Big Lots, Forever 21, Joann Fabrics, Party City, Circuit City, Kmart, and Rite Aid.

According to Spirit Halloween’s location map, many of these new locations are occupying retail spaces previously left vacant by notable bankrupt chains.

Here are some of the shuttered retailers whose former locations are being revived by Spirit Halloween this season.

  • Big Lots (Filed for bankruptcy in September 2024)

  • Forever 21 (Filed for bankruptcy in March 2025)

  • Kmart (Filed for bankruptcy in January 2002, and its parent company, Sears Holdings, filed in October 2018)
