Visitors at the Sept. 2 Tuesday Night Market in Corning will have the opportunity to visit with some of the community’s Hometown Heroes, including police canine, Ghost, and his handler/partner Officer Dannette Ross, local veterans, police officers, firefighters and more.
In addition, the event will host Touch-A-Truck, providing kids the chance to explore emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, a garbage truck, ambulance, water rescue/patrol equipment, and BearCat Armored vehicle.
Hosted by the Corning Recreation Department and Chamber of Commerce, the event will be open 5-8 p.m. on Solano Street between Third and Sixth streets.
“There will be a meet and greet for some of Corning’s hometown heroes. Touch-A-Truck, see a police canine demonstration, and there will be plenty of lights and sirens,” said Chamber Administrator Marie Brayman.
The agencies participating are in the evening event include CalFire, California Highway Patrol, Corning Fire, Police and Public Works departments, Corning Elementary and High School districts, David L Blanchard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4218, Tehama County Sheriffs’ Search & Rescue and Boating Unit, Tehama County supervisors Matt Hansen and Greg Jones, the U.S. Forest Service, and Tehama County Waste Management.
Another feature of the event will be water polo with the Corning Volunteer Fire Department.
“Learn how all their vehicles work and talk to the heroes themselves. It will be an evening you and your kids don’t want to miss,” Brayman added.
And of course, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy Tuesday Night Market’s usual features of food trucks, kids activities, craft, merchandise and information vendors, and Beer and Wine Garden at Rodgers Theatre.
