A South Bend woman was hospitalized in a crash Wednesday morning.
According to Elkhart County deputies, at 4:34 a.m., Diana Salazar, 20, of South Bend, was traveling east on U.S. 33, in a 2010 Honda Civic when it swerved off the north side of the roadway and flipped into a fence on the property belonging to Fiber Tron.
Salazar became trapped in the vehicle and was assisted out of the vehicle by responding EMS before being transported to Elkhart General Hospital for left arm injuries.
HIT-AND-RUN
A 46-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies on Tuesday that a Chevrolet passenger car struck his Kia K5 at the intersection of Ind. 19 and C.R. 26 and fled the scene.
ARRESTS
• An 18-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Goshen police at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and paraphernalia after he was stopped for an equipment violation near Lincolnway East and Plymouth Avenue.
• A 54-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 3:29 p.m. Tuesday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash after he allegedly crashed a 2006 Honda CR-V near C.R. 15 south of C.R. 28 and fled the scene.
• A 30-year-old woman was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 3 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after she was stopped near C.R. 17 and C.R. 6 in Elkhart.
OFFICER’S REPORT
A 71-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 finding a handgun in the 23000 block of C.R. 45 in Elkhart.
THEFT
A 44-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday that three people stole tools from Ervin Cable Construction in the 29000 block of Phillips Street.
FRAUD
A 43-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between April 7 and June 2 someone committed fraud against him.
