One person was found dead after a fire early April 18 in a house at 419 S.E. Rodgers in East Topeka, an official said.
The name, age and gender of the victim weren’t immediately being made public.
No one else was found in the house, said Topeka Fire Marshal Alan C. Stahl.
Rodgers runs north and south and is located about six-tenths of a mile east of S.E. Golden Avenue.
A Topeka police officer and an investigator from the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office were among those present April 18 at the scene where a person had been found deceased earlier that day in a burning house.
Fire was reported just after 5:50 a.m.
Topeka firefighters were called just after 5:50 a.m. to the scene, where they found smoke coming from the house and quickly extinguished it, Stahl said.
Circumstances of the blaze remained under investigation, he said.
No damage estimate had been made.
Firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, Evergy, Kansas Gas Service and American Medical Response ambulance service, Stahl said.
Shawnee County Appraiser’s Office records show the property at 419 S.E. Rodgers has an appraised value of $30,030.
