The $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot drawn Sept. 6 grabbed the headlines, but several Wisconsin lottery players came away with sizable payouts themselves, including $100,000 in Ashwaubenon and Winneconne, $50,000 in Neenah and Sister Bay, and a $1 million prize purchased in Beaver Dam.
A Powerball ticket bought at Kwik Trip, 2282 S. Ridge Road in Ashwaubenon, earned $100,000 because the ticket included the $1 Power Play, which doubled the $50,000 win due to the 2X multiplier.
Other $50,000 winning Powerball tickets from Sept. 6 were sold at:
Bhirdos by the Bay, 10748 N. Bayshore Drive, Sister Bay;
Kwik Trip, 1400 W. American Drive, Neenah;
Marathon Express Mart, 702 Superior St., Antigo.
Overall, Wisconsin Lottery said 173,905 tickets won prizes in the Sept. 6 Powerball drawing, ranging from $4 to $100,000.
A lottery player in Winneconne earned a $100,000 prize playing All or Nothing as none of the 11 numbers drawn were matched for the Sept. 6 midday drawing. The ticket was sold by Kwik Trip, 905 E. Main St.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings.
The biggest prize winner was Dean Luck, who claimed his $1 million winnings Sept. 5 at the lottery office in Madison from a Million Dollar Diamonds scratch ticket he purchased from Jerry’s Automotive, 700 N. Spring St. in Beaver Dam.
The scratch game, which costs $30 to play, launched March 14 and still has one $1 million top prize remaining. The odds of winning $1 million playing the game is 1 in 160,000.
As for the $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot, two tickets won the second-highest Powerball jackpot ever, splitting the prize.
One of the jackpot-winning tickets was purchased in Fredericksburg, Texas, located around 78 miles west of Austin, according to the Texas Lottery. The other was sold in Missouri, but the location was not immediately announced.
Each of the jackpot winners can choose between an annuitized prize of $893.5 million or a lump sum payment of $410.3 million, according to Powerball.
