See if your home made Niche’s cut

Must read

If you’re on the hunt for one of the best places to live in Tennessee, you may already live there depending on the Nashville neighborhood where you reside.

That’s according to Niche’s “2025 Best Places to Live in Tennessee” report, which uses U.S. Census data and other government-sourced statistics to build its rankings and assign letter grades for elements like cost of living, crime rates, public school quality and more. The company collects and analyzes public data sets to score and compare both communities and colleges in ranked lists like this one.

Tennessee’s full report, which lists more than 460 communities across the state, is available at https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/search/best-places-to-live/s/tennessee/.

In the top 25, at least, Nashville is well represented. Half of the top-ranked entries are Nashville neighborhoods, and several more are nearby suburbs in the area around Davidson County.

Here’s a breakdown of the top 25 best places to live, according to Niche.

Downtown Nashville comes out on top

The hustle and bustle of Nashville’s Lower Broadway district is a heavy draw for tourists, but it turns out it’s a great place to stay for more than just a few hours or days at a time.

Downtown Nashville clocks in at first on Niche’s rankings, which note that living in the area “offers residents a dense urban feel” with plenty of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and parks nearby.

It’s one of 11 entries on the list to earn an “A+” grade according to Niche’s scoring methodology.

What about the rest of the top 25?

Here’s how things shake out beyond the No. 1 entry on Niche’s rankings.

  1. Boscobel Heights (Nashville)

  2. McKissack Park (Nashville)

Including downtown, that makes 12 Nashville neighborhoods inside the top 25. Several other communities — including the next two highest on the list following downtown — are growing suburbs of Nashville like Nolensville, Brentwood and Mount Juliet.

Beyond the heavy Nashville-area representation, other highlights on the list include suburbs of Knoxville and Memphis, Williamson County communities like Franklin and Thompson’s Station, and the elevated Chattanooga suburbs of Signal Mountain and Lookout Mountain.
