Downtown Detroit’s long-awaited Apple Store finally has an opening date.
The Apple.com website shows the new store at 1430 Woodward Ave. — next to the Shinola Hotel — is scheduled to open Sept. 19.
Sept. 19 also happens to be the first in-store availability date for the new iPhone 17.
The new store will have unusual hours on its first day, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and closing at 10 p.m. The hours return to normal the following day with a 10 a.m. start time.

The store’s opening date was first reported by Crain’s Detroit.
Apple recently closed its store at The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township in anticipation of the new downtown location. The Apple Store was an original tenant of Partridge Creek, an outdoor shopping center that opened in October 2007.
