SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A 19-year-old driver was arrested after deputies witnessed his erratic driving and later found narcotics in the car.
The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on Sept. 11 at around 1:15 a.m. A deputy had seen a dark sedan driving along Harrison Road and Patriot Highway with no taillights.
The car turned onto multiple streets and violated a slew of traffic violations, which resulted in the deputy attempting a traffic stop, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver refused to pull over and instead accelerated the car. The driver ran a red light on Lafayette Boulevard and continued onto Courthouse Road, driving at speeds over 100 mph.
The deputy continued to chase the driver until he eventually lost control of the car on Leavells Road, striking a median and going over a hill. The car came to rest in a parking lot.
The man was then taken into custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, the car had recently been stolen, and narcotics were found inside the car, which belonged to the driver.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Cash Phelix, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic
Felony Eluding Law Enforcement
Driving with a Revoked License
Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle
Failure to Stop at a Red Light
No Tail Lights on a Vehicle
He was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
