The Easter holiday’s weather will have a mix of soaking rain, strong thunderstorms, warmth and sunshine across the U.S.
Here are the weather highlights, along with maps showing where precipitation may fall and forecast high temperatures. For more on the threat of severe thunderstorms and flooding rainfall, check out our breakout forecast here.
Easter Sunday
East: It should be a rain-free holiday. While cooler in the Northeast, the Southeast will remain quite hot for this time of year. Parts of the interior Carolinas or interior Florida peninsula could climb to 90 degrees.
Central: Showers and strong thunderstorms will be more widespread from Texas and Louisiana to the upper Mississippi Valley. Severe storms are likely from Missouri to Louisiana late in the day. These storms could get closer to Chicago, St. Louis and Memphis, Sunday evening. Damaging winds, large hail and strong tornadoes are all a possibility. Rain and clouds will hold temperatures in the upper 40s or 50s from the central Plains to the Great Lakes.
West: Except for a few pesky rain or snow showers in parts of the Northwest, holiday weather should be decent with temperatures at least several degrees warmer than Saturday in the Southwest.
