Gov. Abbott Calls UTSA’s Charlie Kirk Vigil “Beautiful” Tribute

Must read

Governor Greg Abbott praised a vigil for Charlie Kirk that took place at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), was assassinated during a Q&A at Utah Valley University on September 10, as The Dallas Express previously reported. The university served as the first stop of the organization’s “American Comeback Tour,” which was traveling to several college campuses.

The vigil at UTSA drew hundreds of students and community members. Many sang “Amazing Grace,” according to MYSA.

Abbott posted photos and video from the vigil. He called the gathering “beautiful.”

“Such a beautiful sight at @UTSA,” Abbott wrote on X. “We are proud of these students standing strong for Charlie Kirk.”

The memorial included photos of Kirk and his family, balloons, and a sign that read: “RIP Charlie, we will take it from here,” according to Express News.

TPUSA UTSA Chapter President Jack Harrell closed the vigil with a call to action.

“Tonight, I leave you all with a charge,” Harrell told the crowd. “To the students, rise up, carry the mantle, lead with courage. To those who support us, your prayers, your encouragement, your generosity are the lifeblood of this mission — keep going,” Express News reported.

“And to those who would stand in the way, you have not silenced a voice, you have unleashed a movement,” he added. “You thought Charlie’s mission would die with him, but in truth, it has only grown louder.”
