The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a southwest Tallahassee homicide Sept. 20 after an early morning shooting claimed the life of a man.
Police descended on the 2700 block of Kennedy Drive just off Orange Avenue after the gunfire took place at approximately 1:53 a.m.
“When officers arrived on scene, they located one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound,” a TPD incident alert posted on social media stated. “Life-saving measures were attempted, however the male died as a result of the injuries he sustained.”

The agency provided no other details about the circumstances of the shooting or any potential suspects, only noting that the case “remains an open and active investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
Detectives ask anyone who has information about the incident but did not speak with an officer on scene to call 850-891-4200. Tipsters can also remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
So far in 2025, 17 people have died and at least 32 have been injured in at least 46 serious shootings, according to a rolling Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
