‘America heading in the wrong direction’: A response

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to the Sept. 15 letter to the editor “America heading in the wrong direction.”

There was a time in America when truth, honor, character, loyalty and absolute adherence to the foundation of America were emblematic of being a citizen.

No longer.

The Biden administration, the mainstream legacy media and liberal politicians took care of that.

The Trump accusations of “fake media” were well earned. And a plethora of hoaxes and outright falsehoods are well known. Some examples:

  • President Biden’s mind was as “sharp as a tack” and he did more in an hour than most do in a day, while he bumbled and stumbled.

  • “The border is secure,” while thousands of illegals a day were crossing.

  • DEI was the liberal mantra of the day and some people were hired for their race and/or sexual preferences, not their qualifications.

  • “Defund the police” was the policy of many Democrat city mayors. These mayors don’t even want to turn over convicted criminals to ICE.

The list goes on.

Washington, D.C., had the highest murder rate of all American cities, and all the mayor could say was the murder rate was “down.” With proper introduction of guards and soldiers, the situation was controlled. Calling assistance to local law authorities an “occupation” is overblown rhetoric.

In 1936 in Germany, innocent people were arrested solely for being Jewish. Today in America, undocumented immigrants are being arrested for their crimes. Hardly the same as the author intimated.
