Colorado has one of nation’s best glamping sites and it isn’t closed for the season yet

Must read

A resort near Telluride landed on a list of the most lavish glamping sites in the U.S.

Dunton River Camp made the list of nine properties compiled by RV Trader, an online marketplace for recreational vehicles. The site in the San Juan Mountains has eight luxurious tents near the Dolores River that combine five-star amenities with access to the outdoors.

“With fly-fishing, hiking, and horseback riding right outside your tent flap, it’s the perfect blend of wilderness and indulgence,” the article says.

The property, formerly a 19th-century cattle ranch, features king-size beds, gas stoves, and oversized soaking tubs and private decks at each tent. The all-inclusive stay includes “farm-to-table” meals with carefully paired fine wines.

The resort, which is generally adult only with limited family-friendly weeks available in the summer months, per its website, is only open from June to early fall. As of Sept. 23, it still listed vacancies into mid-October, giving a comfortable form of late fall camping.
