NEW CASTLE, IN — A New Castle man has been charged with 27 crimes related to child pornography.

Corey L. Lindsay, 47, was charged on Monday, Sept. 22, in Henry Circuit Court 1 with 20 counts of child exploitation, a Level 4 felony carrying up to 12 years in prison, and seven counts of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony with a maximum six-year prison term.

According to an affidavit, a detective with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation in April after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

He served a search warrant at Lindsay’s home along Indiana 38 in New Castle on April 24 and seized cell phones at that location. Images of “pre-pubescent females posing nude” were allegedly found on one of the phones.

A female acquaintance admitted that she had confronted Lindsay about accessing such images online, the court document said.

During an interview, Lindsay acknowledged that “while he was going through a bipolar or (depressive) state, he had stuff on social media,” according to the affidavit.

Asked whether he had actually taken the photos showing nude children, the New Castle man reportedly responded, “Hell no.”

At a court hearing on Tuesday, Lindsay — being held in the Henry County Jail under a $252,000 surety bond and a $35,250 cash bond — received a Jan. 12 trial date.

Court records reflect no prior convictions for Lindsay.
